Journey of Vaja

A 2D action RPG made by a team of three. I drew most of the main art, composed the scenes, did the rigging and animation, and wrote the player control.

From the sheet to the scene

The map art was drawn as sheets of separate pieces, then composed into scenes in Unity.

Forest map-art sheet: ground strips, grass, rocks, stone slabs, plants, branches, two trunks, two trees and a small Vaja sprite, each on its own

Who did what

Me
Project head. Most of the main art (map art, UI art, the crystal staff), scene composition, skeletal rigging, IK and animation; player control, scene scrolling, UI logic, scene management and the save system.
Team
The main concept, game design and story came mainly from a teammate. Teammates also made the effects and some of the skill art.
External assets
Some assets came from outside the team.

A playable build, demoed for the course.

Current state

Finished as a course project in March 2025.
